I Might Have Invented Something New…

So the rotary fixture plate is done, right? WRONG. I’ve got just one more feature to add to it. A set of material squaring guides. I have an idea for a dovetail clamp that allows for adjustability, but is also self-squaring. I’ve never seen anything quite like it which could either be a good thing or a bad thing. It’s one of those weird things where the mechanism makes sense, but at the same time… doesn’t. So let’s find out, and build a functional prototype!

  1. Hello. I have a solution to the latest build; the additions to the Rotary Table. If you want, I can send you some drawings. Email me if you’d like me to draw them up and send them. It would have to be deadtree and snail mail since I have no experience with CAD/CAM but have used traditional stuff since 1985.

  2. Hello, my name is Walkara. I recently watched this video and had an idea for your alignment tool. I have created a 3d model of my iteration and would like to give you a reference print with some design notes on it. Please email me and I will send you my idea in a pdf and you can use the design if you would like.

The alignment tool I designed was created on-top of your part to create a very stable version that would remove the material bending. (at least side to side) I also added a feature that may help with the amount of force needed to tighten the whole assembly.

I would appreciate your thoughts and thank you for your intriguing content.
    sincerely,
    Walkara

  3. Very cool watching you cut chips. I have been a tool designer most of my career but I don’t work near the shop so I never know if the parts fit together.
