Restoring an Angle Plate

Welcome back to the machine shop! This video I’ll be doing a little tool restoration and bringing life back to this rusty old cast iron tool makers angle plate. Of course this will be much much more than just a rust removal job. This is a precision tool so I need it to be perfectly square as well. We’ll spend a lot of time at the surface plate with the surface gauge and you can count on a ton of precision surface grinding plus some action on the vertical milling machine. Including slot milling, chamfering, and some attempts at fly cutting with a boring head. Along the way I find myself roped into a couple side projects making and repairing some other tooling fixtures to get me there. In the end I take the angle plate for a spin to finally finish off the sine plate build.
